Beneficiaries

Because of your generosity the 2008 Tournament generated a record income of $575,000. Of this amount, $523,000 was distributed to 44 charities and $50,000 was retained to start our 2009 tournament. The total distribution to charities since our 2002 inaugural event has been $2.4 million. Listed below are charities that benefitted from the 2008 tournament:

Texas Tomorrow Fund Scholarship, a prepaid college scholarship donated to the CCA STAR.

Seagulls 4-H & Agriculture Farm, enables children to learn responsibility with animals, through agriculture.

Teresa L. Herbert Memorial, promotes child advocacy and has already presented two $1,500 scholarships for students from single parent households.

South Texas Children’s Home, an organization that provides homes and education to underprivileged children.

Brazoria County Parks Department, promotes fishing events and conservation awareness for underprivileged children.

Luke & Rachel Batten Foundation,
foundation setup to fund research toward the diagnosis, treatment and cure of Juvenile Neuronal Ceroid Liofuscinoses.

Matagorda Red Cross Fire Relief Fund, Provides temporary lodging and clothing to victims of fire in Matagorda County.

Houston Lighthouse for the Blind
Project Joy and Hope, supporting children with life-limiting illnesses and their families.


Matagorda Volunteer Fire Depart. 100 Club of Matagorda County, benefits families of peace officers injured or killed in the line of duty.


Matagorda County Women’s Crisis Center, provides assistance to victims of domestic abuse.

Boy & Girls Club of Brazoria County
Bluebonnet Youth Ranch

Boy Scout Troop No. 45 in Bay City Texas, has produced more Eagle Scouts than any other Boy Scout Troop in South Texas.

Forgotten Angels, provides  opportunities for individuals with development disabilities to realize their dreams within the community.

Palacios Boys & Girls Club, an organization that provides mentoring for underprivileged children in Palacios area.

Scholarship Fund, College scholarship fund for Matagorda County Students.

Shrine Orthopedic Hospital -Houston,
provides free orthopedic care and
treatment for children.

Shrine Burn Hospital-Galveston, provides free care and treatment to children with burn injuries.

Texas Volunteer Fire Fighters Relief Fund, Benefits families of Volunteer Firefighters
that have been injured or killed in the line
of duty.

Boys and Girls Club, Harris County (Waller Independent School District) Texas Game Wardens Scholarship Fund, a
college scholarship fund for future game
wardens.

Ministerial Alliance of Matagorda County,
an alliance of churches in Matagorda which
have a number of community outreach
programs to help residents in need such as
providing “Meals on Wheels”.

Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund
The Children’s Assessment Center, helping children and families recover from abuse.

Big Brothers Big Sisters, an organization that provides mentors to underprivileged children.

Matagorda Episcopal Hospital Outreach
Program (MEHOP), provides medical
services in Matagorda County and
surrounding counties.

Bridgewood Farms, an organization
founded in 1967 that is committed to
enrichment and advancement of the lives
of people with retardation.

Sea Center Texas, a Texas Parks & Wildlife facility provides children’s fishing programs.

Prostate Cancer Fund, for prostate cancer
research.

SPWP Scholarship Fund, a scholarship fund for low income students that is managed by the ladies of SPE.

Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, a
donation to the calf scramble.

U of H Hearing Centers, provides hearing
aids to the needy.
