Memo to Sponsors

The 2008 Texas Oilman’s Charity Invitational Fishing Tournament was held in Matagorda, Texas June 5th, 6th & 7th and generated a record income of $575,000. Of this amount, $523,000 will be distributed to 44 charities with $50,000 retained to start the 2009 event.  Total attendance at this year’s event, including fishermen, celebrities, guests and workers was 1,290.

TOCIFT is supported by approximately 200 companies. All participants must be employed by, or work with, companies that support the energy industry.

Held annually in Matagorda, Texas, the event is centrally located at the Port of Bay City’s Matagorda Harbor. It begins on a Thursday evening during the first or second week of June and ends with a live auction on the following Saturday night. Registration starts early Thursday afternoon. Check in, registration, entry corrections, and changes may be accomplished any time the tent is open Thursday through Saturday afternoon.

The focus during our 3 day event is fishing, having fun, and raising money while enjoying the company of others in our industry.  Food and refreshment abound each day of the tournament. Door prizes are given every evening. Silent auction and raffle items are available until the live auction begins Saturday night. After the live auction, the winning raffle ticket for a new boat, motor, and trailer is pulled. The festivities conclude when yet another boat, motor, and trailer is given to some lucky entrant in the crowd of fishermen.

The Board of Directors and all the entities receiving funds from TOCIFT wish to offer our sincere thanks to our Sponsors.  Companies and individuals supporting this endeavor have helped make it a premier event in our industry. You have generated well over $2.4 million which was distributed to 501C3 charities throughout Texas. As a result of your efforts, TOCIFT has been able to fund new research in the battle to cure the life threatening Batten disease, build new facilities enabling handicapped and mentally challenged individuals a place to work and learn to help themselves, and contribute toward the treatment of children with crippling physical abnormalities and those disfigured by fire. Disenfranchised children are also being housed and cared for as a result of your donations. Women’s shelters receive funds, abused children get needed support, less fortunate youths receive funds to continue their education, and a host of other community endeavors aimed at assisting the less fortunate are receiving funds with which to continue their efforts.

Your support helped us surpass expectations. We salute you for a job extremely well done and look forward to continuing this effort with you.

Sincerely,

TOCIFT Board of Directors
